Burger or Hamburger is savored as the most desired fast food meal in the United States. A hamburger is basically a sandwich prepared by stuffing ground meat patty, generally beef, between two slices of a bun cut in half. Hamburger is also famous for its seasoning. Besides ground meat patty, hamburgers are also stuffed with lettuce, onions, tomato slices, pickles, and cheese.
Hamburgers are also categorized into two types in the United States. Fast food hamburger and individual hamburgers served at restaurants are two basic types of burgers served in the United States. The individual hamburgers served at restaurants are prepared using everything including lettuce, onion, tomato, and sliced pickles as well as melted cheese on the patty or crumbled on top. American restaurants also serve veggie burgers for those who don't relish meat. Cheeseburgers are also hot favorite in the United States.
McDonalds is the most popular fast food burger restaurant serving different types of burgers in the United States. On the other hand, there are several restaurants such as Burger King are famous for serving the best hamburgers in the United States. Have been here twice-- don't mind counter service-- it's like black walnut's we like Black Walnut..... We go to all types of restaurants....sometimes you just want to grab a bite at a nice place without having to do the whole sit-down tipping thing. Anyway, we liked the avocado rolls, the cod entree and the healthy tasting Asian bowl. Also, the iced tea was good. However, our daughter got the pot roast which was very bland and we all were disappointed to taste the bottled ranch salad dressing--- not good at all!!!! -We were expecting a good tasting / homemade ranch dressing. I would suggest them taking note of Eden cafe's ranch, Salt grass Steakhouse and Black Walnut--- all have excellent tasting ranch dressing! As my husband said, it's disappointing to pay the money and not be able to finish the salad because of the dressing. I would love to see this place improve and make it, because the atmosphere is really nice. But if you have too many bad experiences with the food, you will eventually always choose another place no matter the atmosphere.

Nice place on the back of The Woodlands. Its similar to the black walnut restaurant, but with a personal touch and less crowded. The Chilaquiles with eggs on top, are a must on breakfast or early lunch. Also the Jefe sandwich is very good. Burgers, salads and salmon are really good too. They have a small bar and great terrace. Good job to the owner, competing with all those franchises.

First time to eat here. Last time to eat here. I ordered a very simple ceasar salad, 1/3 of it was rotten lettuce..... Bagged lettuce and 1/3 was rotten. Overpriced cafateria style cafe. Ambiance was nice but i am a foodie. Did the cook in the back even look at the lettuce as he pulled it out of the bag??? I dont eat out often because this place is a perfect example of serving sub-par food that most places now serve. Eat at the cheese course... The food is actually good there. Btw: did i mention cafateria style

The first time I came to blue mug, I had the blue mug salad it was delicious and so was the chicken tortilla soup, but this time it was no Bueno, the soup was barely warm and didn't taste the same my salad, the chicken was overcooked and had no flavor, and it was cold, the time before my chicken was hot ,For as much money as we spent it wasn't worth it.
(2)Alex I.
Their pot roast is consistently awesome but I wish they would put it back on the menu as an entree, not just a sandwich. A bit overpriced considering it is a counter service establishment. Falon is truly an asset to this restaurant. She went above and beyond to take care of our table.

First impressions of Blue Mug are actually quite positive. The dining room is comfortable, with a nice modern design that's also relaxing. You could kick your feet up and stay a while, so to speak. Other than that, I'd say that somebody visited Black Walnut Cafe and decided to poach the business model. It's a little eerie how much is the same. Counter service, gelato, the dishes on the menu (though Blue Mug's menu is more limited), and, unfortunately, the prices. Blue Mug is rather expensive for fast casual, easily clocking in at $16-20 per person after tax and tip with no alcohol. By the time I sit down with my buzzer, hopes are high, though. After a short wait, the food is ready, and the disappointment begins. I've made several visits. I try to go someplace at least 3 times before reviewing, because anybody can have a bad day, and sometimes I just order the wrong thing and need to pick something else. But I've tried enough things here at enough different times, and it just doesn't measure up. Gorgeous Wrap: all the sauce was in one half of the wrap, and that half was definitely better, but it desperately needs a shot of something acidic. Bland, boring, and dry on the half without the sauce. Slightly too sweet with the sauce. Chicken Cordon Bleu: slightly overcooked, but completely unseasoned. Nothing but char and flavorless chicken, slightly dry from the overcooking. A brine would solve both problems quite nicely. The cheese wasn't quite right; it was kind of stringy. I think they just used a cheap Swiss is all and it didn't melt very nicely, but I'm not a cheese expert. Pot Roast Grilled Cheese: pot roast is dry, lacks seasoning. The ratio of meat to cheese is all wrong, meaning the sandwich overall is dry as well. It looks fantastic on the plate, but it proves difficult to eat and just doesn't have enough cheese. I'd suggest cutting the meat portion down a bit and chopping it smaller so the cheese can permeate everything. The pot roast grilled cheese at Black Walnut is a good example of how to do it right. Salad: I don't even remember which one I got, though it had chicken, nuts, and fruit. The presentation was beautiful, with each ingredient completely separate laid next to each other. Beautiful is not practical, though. The plate was only very slightly larger than the ingredients, so mixing everything up made quite a mess. Flavor-wise, it was fine. Good salad dressing and fresh ingredients. Easily the best thing I had. Sides: Mashed potatoes were grainy, as if the potatoes hadn't been cooked all the way before being mashed. Or perhaps they'd been drying out in the fridge for a couple days and then loosened when reheated. And, again, no seasoning at all. Roasted vegetables were just ok as well, again with no seasoning. A little salt and pepper (or vinegar) would liven them up nicely. Fries were actually very good; they were crispy shoestring fries with plenty of salt, so I know they do actually have salt in the kitchen though they don't seem to use it on anything else. Breakfast: tried the chilaquiles, and I have to give credit for the massive portion. It made the price easier to swallow. You could split this easily. Not bad, though the fried tortillas got mushy in the blink of an eye. I'd actually order this again, though, which is more than I can say for the rest of the menu. Coffee is standard restaurant fare, so any complaints would be from heightened expectations rather than any problem with the coffee itself. So, after an entirely too long review, I can just say: good atmosphere, but they're not getting the little things right on the food and it's just not worth the inflated prices.

Excellent place for a date, group of friends or just a relaxing coffee. The environment is great and the service is awesome. They made a custom order of spicy potato fries for my fiancé so it was nice they try and go the extra mile to make customers happy.
(5)Kelsey W.
Absolutely love this place! Great Bloody Mary's, great brunch, great service, great everything. We ordered sweet potato fries and asked for them to make them spicy so one of the girls went in the back and made some Tabasco salt, added some smoked paprika and other spices to make the fries one of a kind. This is our new go-to for sure!

As the organizer of a food and wine group, I've been able to dine at many different venues in Houston and The Woodlands, and this place, I'm disappointed to say, is subpar..When I first ate here, I really liked their concept and their food, but on each visit I started to notice different negatives that have finally convinced me to stay away for good. I have seen bugs on the countertop. I have noticed crusty ancient cheese stuck to the plates, possibly from 3 customers ago. I have waited ridiculous amounts of time for orders. I had one that was lost and when complained about, the food was still only delivered to my table after an interminable wait. And the manager, when you can find him, rudely refuses to address these issues. I am done!
(1)Heather R.
I wasn't impressed, I ordered the eggs, bacon, and potatoes. The potatoes were regular potatoes and sweet potatoes mixed together and fried. Sweet potatoes fried like french fries is just gross but for breakfast it's beyond horrible.
(1)Elina T.
This place used to be awesome! I'm not sure if it a different management but we had terrible service. My sister ordered 10 minutes before us and we got our food first. The girl never put in their order which we were okay with. People make mistakes. But then they brought out the wrong order and my brother needed wheat bread for his diet and they didn't put it on the sandwich. So the girl brought out 2 plain pieces of bread on a plate and gave it to him. The food here is great, but if he wanted to make his own sandwich, he could have done it at home.
(2)Nicholas H.
Came in to breakfast with my wife to a pretty empty facility. Had to wait several minutes for burnt french toast and a pretty empty plate. $3 for a side of sausage that was undercooked and $11 for burnt french toast. Choose a smaller plate next time and thank you for fixing the burnt french toast.
(2)Amanda P.
Came here with friends and had a much better experience. The cod was great and another friend raved about her midi fish. Had great cocktails too. I would have gone up to 4 stars, but their appetizers are sparse. They got rid of one and were out of another. They have a nice bar, so I would have liked to see a bigger variety of apps that we could all share.
(3)Lexie W.
The "Blue Mug" is a very cute but professional hot spot in my circle. But like any restaurant, it has it's downfalls. First Impression: cozy (atmosphere), big, well decorated, family friendly, community oriented, professional. My family and I are regulars here. Great food, with the right conditions. We have gone here many times and had no problems, but then there have been times when food sucks and service does too. I am pretty sure it has something to do with what manager is there. They are both women, but one of them has shorter hair and glasses. She is the best. But the other manager served us orange juice that tasted spoiled. We also got three stacks of "Sweet Potato Pancakes". Totally burned. Overall their food can be out of this world and so can their service. But just be aware. Sweet Potato Pancakes: Very delicious! When they aren't burned. Love the subtle tones of nutmeg and the spice of the cinnamon. They are fluffy but much denser than regular buttermilk pancakes. Fish Tacos: Oh so good! My favorite item on the menu. The bean spread is a great texture to balance the crispy-ness of both the taco shell and the beer battered cod. I do suggest to get extra sauce, because it is to die for. Food Presentation Overall~ (5 out of 5) The only reason I give this review 4 out of 5, is due to the fact there have been some incidents. (please note that this review is purely my personal opinion of the food, service, and atmosphere at this restaurant "Blue Mug".)
(4)K B.
I really want to like this place because it's convenient a and has some good menu choices. However, every time I convince my husband to give it another try, their execution ruins the experience. Today we went for brunch. Ordered the French Toast. The part of mine that wasn't burned was good. What I don't understand is they have someone at the counter prepping the food for you to pick up. They don't see its burned? Something like this happens every time. Not even worth sending back anymore.
(2)Karla B.
I have loved Blue Mug since it opened but something changed. On our last few visits it hasn't been good. For their price point they need to be great. Today my daughter and I split the enchilada meal for $13. We received 3 enchiladas, that's it,no sides. And they were cold, not warm at all. That was our last visit.
(2)David B.
Salsa on the chips wasn't very good and the guacamole portion was very small for the price. The French onion soup tasted like a tortilla soup but the French dip sandwich was okay, unfortunately the dip was the same as the soup. The seared fish bowl lacked a lot of flavor and a disappointment since it was presented very well. Overall not very good.
(1)Phil R.
This place is horrible!!! Had to wait for 30 minutes for our food. The group we were with actually finished their food before our food showed up. Do not recommend this place!!
(1)Lisa B.
Nothing special about this place. I ordered sandwich and chicken tortilla soup. The sandwich was just meh-okay and the soup was salty. It was good but too too salty! I probably won't be back unless we go after church on Sundays.
(3)Kathryn G.
No stars the meal was so awful $17 dollars for a half a sandwich and a bowl of soup. The soup was awful brown and tasted nothing like a tomato soup. The sandwich was tiny and a mess. This is the second time I have tried this place and I am very disappointed. Don't bother!
(1)Thomas P.
This place was a total home run on our first visit. I had the pulled pork sliders and she had mug chicken. Both lunches could not have been better. Will return for sure
(5)A H.
The food quality is great. Lots of healthier options! I tried a watermelon salad and the Santa Fe bowl on separate occasions. Both were really good. Short of five stars, because they seem a bit short staffed.
(4)P S.
Love this place!! Fantastic quality of food! Very large portions--you'll probably bring some back home. Cozy, coffee shop kind of vibe. You walk in and order up front and pay then. Table service by the waiters is always very attentive. Best lunch place in the area hands down.
(5)James K.
Very unassuming from the outside. The first time I came here, I was shocked by the high quality of the food. Have come back many times with the family as it is only a few minutes from our home. The restaurant is very clean and spacious. Haven't tried it, but the lounge area looks nice and they have quite a happy hour selection. Our favorite dishes so far are the beef dip sandwich and the fish tacos.
(4)Kelly Y.
I was thoroughly disappointed with this restaurant. With its modern decor and visually appealing menu items I was eager to give this place a try. But as we all know... looks can be deceiving. For a Sunday morning on Memorial Day weekend it was surprisingly empty which was not a good sign already. After ordering and taking a seat, I couldn't help but notice the many TV'S were consumed with infomercial shows and MMA. I don't particularly care to watch two bloody guys beat the crap out of each other right before I eat breakfast. With it being Memorial Day weekend there are much better options for entertaining customers. Once I received my food, things quickly spiraled down from there. It was cold and poorly prepared. I've had better tasting and warmer food at a motel breakfast buffet. The only thing warm was my orange juice which ironically should be cold. The Woodranch sandwich I ordered with chicken came with almost NO chicken. After that much disappointment at this establishment I can honestly say I will not be returning EVER again. Those folks have truely dropped the ball and should rethink how they are doing things. 2 thumbs down for the Blue Mug.
(1)Steffen W.
This is one of the dirtiest place I been no soap and towels at the restrooms, floor dirty from the day before food not this great French onion soup from the can
(1)Ryan Z.
Other then being a tad cold place was amazing for a random walk in! Can't wait to come back
(5)Brittany C.
Here now... Staff is friendly. Came for the bottomless mimosas and decided to get something to snack on. Carrot cake and the Iron Man parfait was well put together but after 45 minutes we realized that we have to go to the bar to refill our mimosas. Wish someone would of gave us the heads up. This is a small relaxed cafe; I give it three stars cause I've been spoiled by Black Walnut Cafe which is definitely the better choice.
(3)NewMrs P.
Like others before me, this place is hit or miss. It's 7:00pm, happy hour is over and the restaurant is almost empty! The why is: mediocre food, acceptable service and counter ordering. But no expense has been spared On the A/C!! Brrrrrr!! My (chicken) tortilla soup was barely warm, tasted like a thick chili tomato sauce and chock full of stringy roast beef. It was cold by the time I finished it. Husbands Pepito sandwich was all he'd hoped and he was happy with it. It was my last visit. Too many quality choices in Woodlands; was so hopeful for this place at the back os the city. Postscript. My husband adds "and they screwed the bill up". I ask, do you tip for counter service in these restaurants? Where you pick up your food / drinks ? No wait staff?
(2)D C.
I would like to say Alyson C, Richard S and Ryan B are awesome employees at the bar. Great customer service every visit. This is the place !!!!!!
(5)Bethany M.
I have eaten here multiple times and have been impressed with the consistency. The quality of food and service is always very good. I enjoy their breakfast and dinner options. I have yet to eat lunch here but it seems a bit pricey for me. The beer selection is great! My boyfriend and I were very excited to see that they are one of the only places north of Houston that carries Austin's 512 craft beers... The Pecan Porter is worth going here by itself. The pop music playlist doesn't seem to work with the atmosphere of the restaurant as a whole. It has a calm coffee shop vibe inside, a fun place to watch sports in the bar area, and a nice patio to have a relaxing meal outside. They are dog friendly on the patio, which I appreciate. Overall, this is a restaurant worth checking out. It has something for everybody.
(4)Jamee S.
When we drove up the place didn't look like much but when we walked in the place had great atmosphere. It looks pretty cool on the inside with relaxing lighting and good music. They have a unique menu. My son got chicken tenders, french fries, and a cookie. The tenders might have been fried with fish but they were still good. The fries were extremely good. I got the chicken enchiladas and they were some of the best ever! I am impressed with the food and definitely will be back.
(4)James B.
Went here with my wife for an early dinner today. We were one of three tables in the restaurant (only one ordering) and it took over 30 minutes to get our food. We got the Santa Fe bowl and the Blue Mug Chicken. Both portions were huge, but the chicken was frozen and over-cooked in both meals. I would give the food 3 stars, but the service and the extremely high price for both will keep us away. $15 for a basic entrée with no drink and having to order at a counter? No thank you. We will stay away in the future.
(2)Elizabeth B.
I've been here twice. the decor is beautiful, very cozy. I was surprised how nice it looked. the counter concept is strange and uncomfortable to have to go pick up your food and not get any service. I haven't ordered any bar drinks from here, but it sounds like you would have to do the same at the bar. that sounds kind of strange as well. I've had an Asian chicken salad, was very nice. another visit had the stew and I did not enjoy that. it did not resemble or include the items in the description. I let the nice young girl at the counter know this and she apologized... my friend had the chicken plate (blue mug chicken I believe), and it was very good... it had chicken cordon bleu on it as well as chicken parmesan with a creamy pasta. Both were very, very delicious and the price for that meal was a good deal but mine was not. I would be interested in trying their wine night - half of bottles, soon... but I hope someone will bring me the bottle, but I will see. Let's hope!
(3)Richard S.
The entire experience was frenetic. You walk in and a 16 year old with no knowledge of the menu hands you said menu and says "order at the counter and sit where you'd like". She tells everybody this so there were 6-8 people standing in the entry way staring at a giant menu. Not a good start. 1/2 bottles of wine on a Friday night....... ok. I ordered a bottle for the ladies and a St. Arnold's beer for myself. We also ordered three entrees. Walked to the bar area, found a table, and then went to the bar to retrieve our drinks. Dude at bar: "what can I get you"? Me: "I ordered a bottle of wine and a beer with my meal". Dude: "are you sure, I don't have it yet". Me: "I'm pretty sure..... I paid for it and here is my receipt". Dude: "Oh here it is, how many glasses would you like with your wine"? Then he proceeded to pour my beer into a smoking cold glass. Straight down the middle. Disaster, beer everywhere. Obviously he hasn't been to college yet....... He notices me looking at him and tells his co worker that the beer hardly filled the glass. Again, he poured it out of a bottle so 12 oz right. This thing was at least half foam and still not full. His co worker dude tells me, who didn't say shit to either of them, "this is a pint glass and that's a twelve oz beer so it will not be full". Me: "ok, well your standing in most of my twelve oz because your partner spilled it". Him: "you want another one"? Me: "don't put yourself out". The wine was very good. Luke warm au jus for the French dip and most was spilled on the plate to assure I had a soggy sandwich. The meat was crazy hot and dry like it was microwaved by itself and then slid into the sandwich. The onions were over cooked to the point well beyond caramelized and tasted burnt. Like stuck to the pan burnt. Fish tacos didn't suck. They weren't great but they didn't suck. Fish plate looked good but had next to no seasoning. I scooped a spoonful of rice and sauce with a good size chunk of crab in it and there was absolutely nothing to it. Boring, bland, blueck.... As we were finishing (get me out of here) a group with a gaggle of kids came into the bar area, started re arranging tables and must have told their kids "hey why don't y'all go climb all over the furniture and bump into as many people as you can while tearing through the lounge. "Lounge" my ass. It was like Chuckie Cheese with nice tables and couches. Manager dude walked in, saw the mayhem, and walked back to the kitchen. This is the longest review I've ever written and I'm still ticked. Is it bad that I wanted to hit the manager with the chic with unruly children? Does that make me bad?
(1)Brittany D.
Food isn't bad, just ok. Service is awful. The rude 16 year old at the counter told me that my chicken cordon bleu came without sides, so I order 2 sides (for a total of $8 mind you) only to get my entree that comes with 2 sides and now I have 2 additional, overpriced sides. Also, ordered the Blue Mug Chicken for my kids, and when I asked if it could be split in half for them, she said "No, but I can give you a knife." Seriously?! Overall not a great impression or experience.
(2)Brett B.
Good place! Love the pot roast grilled cheese, just an awesome sandwich. Very nice setting, an a nice staff.
(4)Corrine M.
This place is awesome. My husband and I agree that the beef ribs were the best we've had since moving to Texas more than 5 years ago. The restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to order a martini or local beer and hang out for a while. Thanks Blue Mug Cafe, you have given us a new local spot!
(5)SM H.
The food was ok but made it a 2 star is that I feel it's over priced. The quantity of the food isn't large and yet they charge almost equivalent to a real sit down place. We ordered their Blue Mug Salad and that was $12. It was a good salad, but it came in a shallow plate rather than a bowl, so the quantity was quite small. We also ordered the $10 pork slider, which came with 3. They basically took one big bun and cut it up into 4's but only gave 3. To me that isn't a slider but just 3/4 of a normal sandwich, but charging me $10 for it. We ordered the $6 tomato soup. Yes, $6 for a cup of soup. It was very spicy. My son couldn't finish it. I think they put too much mustard in it. Last item we ordered was their 2978 pasta, which was $12. Out of all the items we ordered, this one is probably priced ok. It's the same price as my salad, so now I feel a little ripped off by the salad. Anyway, the final verdict is that we will not return. There's other better places in The Woodlands like Hubbel and Hudson kitchen and Black Walnut cafe, which their food, quantity, and prices are better.
(2)Cathy C.
Too expensive! A chicken wrap with no sides $11...not worth it.
(1)Tim S.
Update. March 23rd 2014. Went here for dinner tonight. Ordered pot roast grilled cheese. The fries were cold, way cold. The pot roast was shredded and the sauce was straight up BBQ and not apricot anything. This made it taste like a beef BBQ sandwich and not like any pot roast I've ever had. Wife had the 2978 pasta and she said there was no real flavor at all and it was like the chicken had been roasted and then tossed on the grill to make it look grilled. This made it have two different competing flavors. Someone in the kitchen is too impressed with themselves. Too much money for food that don't deliver. Won't be back. It's a Black Walnut wannabe.
(1)Aubre G.
I love everything about this place- amazing food, inviting yet chill atmosphere. High quality delicious food is the biggest draw for me when it comes to the blue mug cafe. There's not a bad dish on the menu! Plus there's gelato! I just may need to eat here EVERY meal
(5)Lisa P.
Line moved fast Woman taking order rushed us through the process - not complaining, probably why line moved fast Ordered American breakfast Eggs were ok Sausage was a little floppy Potatoes were soggy Toast was great Plate was hot - food was barely warm Coffee is week A little loud - but not bad Will try again for lunch maybe Probably not breakfast tho
(3)Kellyann B.
My boyfriend and I came here today because we were staying at my mom's in Magnolia and didn't know where to go. We looked on Yelp and saw this place had pretty good reviews, and we were far from let down! When you walk in, you order at a counter and they give you a buzzer. When it goes off, you go to another counter to pick up your food. We went at about noon and they were still serving breakfast, so I got an omelette while my boyfriend got a burger. My omelette was very good and so was the potato hash I had on the side. Our food came out quickly and there were many TVs around to watch NFL on. The bar area looked nice and the place seemed to have a lot of room for people. They also serve gelato!
(5)Brenda B.
My family went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The food was...just a little below average. I ordered pancakes and eggs. Pancakes were dry and the eggs were rubbery. Coffee was very bad, but I am pretty much the biggest coffee snob ever, so it takes a lot to impress me. What I did like however was the interior and patio space. Very nice and comfortable!
(3)Dan F.
Good concept and menu but poor execution. Word is that these are the original owners of Black Walnut Cafe, which us and was amazing. I had the bbq beef shirt tube and the char was too heavy taking away from the meat, side of sweet potato fries was good. Kids loved the chicken tenders and fries. My wife had my side salad and though small she liked it. Had the chocolate cake to go and it was good! We will go back but I think it's a sandwich simple meal place that is trying to be more without the skill set.
(3)Dean F.
This place left me wanting for more. They have lot soy friendly people working but no real service. We stood in line for about 8 minutes to order our food...there wee employes all over the place explaining that you had to order at the counter. At the end of a long day I would rather sit down and be waited on by someone friendly. I order dinner, on the high side, with wine and sat down. When the buzzer went off I went to get my food and wine but was told the wine had been sitting in the bar waiting on me. It was 15 minutes later and warm. The restuarant is nice looking and very orderly. Overall, okay but I want service.
(3)Chris H.
I have NEVER written a review for any establishment but tonight merits a response. If I could give it a negative star rating I would. Tonight's experience was beyond words. If you have ever been to a kids birthday party then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Who in their right minds as a parent brings their kids (plural) to a bar and let's them run around screaming, spilling things everywhere, and causing such an awful environment completely eludes me. After speaking with the manager, he respond with, "it's an awkward situation for me, I don't know what to do." And does exactly that. One word. Ridiculous. DO NOT FREQUENT THIS ESTABLISHMENT.
(1)Debbie M.
Went here with a friend yesterday for our first and only visit. I really wanted a grilled cheese sandwich. There was one on the kids' menu but I was not allowed to order it due to my age. There was one on the adult menu but it included pot roast on it. There were no other meatless sandwiches offered. Since there were several kinds of cheese on the menu as well as different breads I asked if I could get a grilled cheese sandwich with no meat. They told me they could not accommodate me unless I paid the $9-$10 that the pot roast sandwich cost . This was ridiculous to me since they had all of the ingredients for my request. I ended up ordering tomato soup which was served at room temp so I had to send it back. My friend had a cheeseburger that was mostly thick bread. Needless to say, neither of us was a fan of this place. I had heard great reviews before but we were not impressed.
(1)Robert D.
Not sure why reviews are so high. Came in but wasn't sure what to expect, modern music plays here, and like others have said, it's the panera bread way of ordering. Staff was friendly so no complaints there, ordered the 2978 pasta, and seeing the price around $12 figured it would be a sizable portion. Also ordered the chips, salsa, and guacamole menu item. Was handed a buzzer and went to choose my seat. Buzzer went off, and went to pick up my chips. Wasn't impressed. Layout of the appetizer was decent. Grabbed my first chip, greasy... Ok, whatever. Dipped it in the salsa and took a bite. Was not impressed, tasted like lukewarm tomato soup heavily spiced. Not talking temperature wise, more so flavor wise. Decided to try the guacamole, a little better.. Not much to say except that it taste like what you would expect. I enjoy garlic and onions on my guacamole, so if you're sensitive to that you may wanna think twice. Chips were pretty stale about my 4th one in. Next my buzzer went off. Not too bad of a wait time, went to go pick up my lun.... Sorry excuse for a lunch portion. You know how most restaurants usually fill up pasta bowls to at least a little more than halfway? Yeah, the bread stacked on top of the pasta didn't even hit the halfway area on the bowl. This wasn't a"lunch"portion ( even though it wasn't advertised as lunch, it was down as regular) it was a you're going to eat like a bird and pay full price for it and like it kinda portion. If you're a hungry person I don't recommend expecting to get a decent portion here. The taste was bland, and the chicken was blackened. Didn't taste like anything however. The atmosphere is one of those where it's good to just chill and shoot the breeze, however if you're looking for quality or a decent portion, eat before you come here. I will come back and try their cakes and something else, since I don't believe in just 1 chance for a restaurant ( some have bad days, upper management may shift, etc..), however I am thoroughly unimpressed. Either lower the prices, or produce food the quality that matches said pricing. I do however like the modern look they went with, so that's a point with me.

I really enjoyed the meal I had here. Their sweet potato fries were great. The service was great and staff super friendly. I have no complaints and really enjoyed everything from the food to the decor. Its worth checking out. I had a breakfast item and enjoyed it very much.

We stopped in for an enjoyable lunch at this fast-casual restaurant. Overall we thought the menu was fun and the place had a great atmosphere. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Although the meal was good (Caesar Salad and Avocado Egg Rolls), we left feeling the food was overpriced and not exciting. The best places I go I wish I could eat more or I can't wait to try something else. Bottom line it was good enough, Ill give it a second shot to try to find something I can get excited about. Like many such places we submitted our order at the counter then picked it up when the pager lit up. The selection was extensive. The menus carries breakfast, lunch and dinner and has a variety of diner staples intermingled with some interesting and unique fair. Very much felt like another establish Woodlands place called the Black Walnut (everything is great). The staff was friendly and very attentive during our meal. After having someone check on us three times it would have been nice to have them offer to fill drinks remove dishes since they were not busy. We tried the Caesar which I try everywhere I go. Some of the consistently best are Grimaldi's and Amerigos. The BMC Caesar was a light dressing salad that hit the middle of the road. The salad was good, and fresh but nothing exciting! We also tried the Avocado Egg Rolls. With the dipping sauce the combination was very good, however the egg roll itself was a bit bland. The avocado filling was just avacado and could use a more effective treatment even a bit of salt would help or crunchy texture. We both agreed the egg roll itself needed to be crispier. Again solid in some ways so we will try it again.

I never write reviews and I feel that this needs to be written. We went here for Father's Day today and I have to say after reading the reviews we were scared. I orders the turkey burger with sweet potato fries and it was amazing! My husband had the French dip and loved every bit of it. The staff was friendly and very helping. You do walk up and order (like at willies or fuddruckers) but when our chips and salsa was ready someone brought it to us. The buzzer went off and all the men went to get the food and needed an extra hand and the staff brought it. You don't have a "server" that refills your drink or that you have to tip so getting my own stuff was fine. I loved and will go back!

Went here on a late Sunday morning and the computers were down. Strangely enough this did not slow down the process much. The manager was clearly flustered, but handled it well. She apologized to the patrons in line and helped ring customers up manually. The food was great and the atmosphere is really interesting. Check out those ceiling fans! The Blue Mug Chicken was splendid and my wife's salad was scrumptious. I am excited to go back and try the avacado eggrolls and pulled pork sliders, hey do they serve mimosas?..

This is a very nice place! The decor is wonderful, it's very cozy and inviting. It has nice seating and big HD TVs in the corners for the guys. You'd think in a place this fancy they would have waiters serving your food, but that's not the case here, instead at the counter they hand you a buzzer. When it goes off you go to the counter and pick up your food, but for me this isn't really a problem. We had a cheeseburger and fries and the Blue Mug salad. The shoestring fries were delicious. The burger was well done, slightly overcooked for my taste. The salad presented well with fresh mixed greens, grilled chicken, sliced apples, candied walnuts, and blackberries. It tasted good. However, the blue cheese dressing I ordered was not my favorite. I won't get that dressing again here. The burger was $10 and the salad was $12, so it wasn't that expensive for Woodlands food, but you would expect that when you order at a counter and pick up your own food. The staff was attentive and friendly. However, while ordering I asked about the pot roast and the staff person said she had never had it before. The resturaunt was spotless. Overall, I give the Blue Mug four stars, but just barely. The decor is by far the best part. The food is only slightly better than average.

Decided to try it out because we had a groupon. Food was great. My husband swears the tomato soup was the best he ever had. Great food (both breakfast and lunch), great drinks, kid friendly. It is counter service but staff was still helpful. The bar area seems to be a hot spot for local cyclists- brings a new twist on biker bar.

We checked this place out only because we had a Groupon because we looked online at the menu and it was extremely limited and a little pricey. We confirmed those 2 facts when arriving, but not before we looked around confused about how the process works. I've been to many counter service-type places, but the way this is laid out and the dark atmosphere made it unclear. Once we figured out on our own where to go and what to do, the girl taking the order was super patient and nice, but she could have left her area and come to the door the explain the process. Maybe she could not leave, but someone should have that responsibility! I ordered a salad with chicken and berries. It was fantastic! The presentation was beautiful, but weird because it was on long narrow rectangular plate. It's hard to eat a salad like that. My mom got the French onion soup and liked that.

Good breakfast. Poor mans black Walnut but still a bit pricey. But nice place w good food.

My gal and I came in after a long drive on a Sunday in 10-2013. We sat at the bar and spoke with a very helpful bartender with lots of helpful knowledge on wine and food. We took his advice and he didn't lead us wrong. We will defiantly be coming back. The atmosphere is great and the food and drinks were great.

I like to come here and sit outside in the morning for breakfast and a giant mug of coffee.

First time dining here. Have cone for beers before. They have a nice bar area. You order your food at the counter and they buzz you when it's ready ala paneta bread. Counter guy could have been ruder but only if he tried.
(4)Troy C.
We've eaten here on four different occasions. Horribly inconsistent, excellent food one time and expensive take home for the dog next. Not giving this one any more chances.

I had mixed feelings about trying Blue Mug based on past reviews, but when the offered a Groupon I decided to finally give it a shot. Boy am I glad I did! I loved it and will definitely be going back. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The pot roast grilled cheese is a must have. Portions are huge, so you can bet on having leftovers or being able to share! The bar is well stocked and the beers on tap were all things you dont usually find. I can't wait until it's cool enough to enjoy their patio - which to my delight had plenty of seating

Slow service and cold food. Makes me super sad since this place had so much promise and a great looking menu.

This is very nice place to meet the gals at. The food is good but nothing really special. The pot roast sandwich is good, but my favorite is their Asian salad. It's a self serve place, basically walk up to order, get a number and they call you when your food is ready. Nice variety of desserts and the price is average - think Chili's price point - I'd rather come here than Chili's. It gets busy during lunch so come early! Plenty of parking and easily accessible.

Wow what a disappointment - I have been waiting for them to open so my wife and I finally went there today. Including us, only two other people in restaurant awaiting orders. For some unknown reason, it took 22 minutes to make a sandwich and a salad - both of which came out wrong. I didn't even finish my French Dip after one bite (not much of a dip and THICK meat) and no one asked to correct the order. It sat at the counter a good 5-10 minutes until my wife's salad was finished - also wrong. Hardest working employee was the gentleman cleaning tables that brought us our food! Such a shame - opening weekend and already lost our business as well as neighbors.

This restaurant is okay. I ordered a 'make your own omelet' which came with home fries and toast. I was really surprised that 'home fries' meant just regular french fries rather than the typical potatoes that would normally come with breakfast fair. The french fries were drenched in sugar and salt - I could see and taste both and couldn't finish them, which is a shame because I needed something to soak up all the grease in my omelet. So much for trying to keep things some-what healthy! The coffee was good and they have a nice patio, but overall there are many better places to eat in town. It's worth noting that while I was eating, a family left the patio and one of the family members announced to the patio that this was the worst service they have ever received and that their food never came. I would only recommend this place if you just want to have a drink outside, otherwise, really doesn't seem worth it. I won't be eating here again.

When we first moved here a year ago, we thought the Blue Mug was terrific. It has been going downhill for a while -- especially in the past couple of months -- and it's not surprising that the place is rarely busy these days and operating hours have been shortened. Contrast that with the Black Walnut (I once thought the establishments were pretty similar) which is always busy and the food is always consistent. My husband and I went to the Blue Mug for a late lunch today (around 2:00) and although there were no more 10 patrons in the restaurant, it took 45 minutes for us to get our food. When we inquired about our order they said the chicken took a while to cook (really -- 45 minutes to grill a boneless chicken breast?) My husband ordered a chicken dish and for a mere $3.95 extra was able to order fries (because why should a $13 entree come with a side?) I ordered the Blue Mug salad and again, for $13 you would think that they wouldn't have served me lettuce that was wilted and tasted as though it had been in a plastic bag past its expiration date. Never once has anyone checked in on the quality of our meal or service and before today it didn't matter, however again -- at the Black Walnut -- we always see an employee, and often a manager -- going from table to table inquiring about the experience. When I tried to find someone to talk to about the salad, there was no one to be found for quite a while, and since we had waited 45 minutes to get our food in the first place, we were running late and had to leave. I don't know what has happened to this place but after today they have lost a couple of loyal customers. The price just doesn't justify the quality and service.

Good variety of food, beers, and wine. Food is tasty and above average. Service is generally attentive, welcoming, and timely. Suggestion: They should let bands from school of rock next door play (band last FR night was tired)
(4)Laura E.
We really want to like this place, but the quality of the food just isn't there. We've tried several things on the menu--avocado egg rolls, orange chicken, Asian salad, hamburgers, Luna's chicken breast, roasted chicken...lots of different plates--nothing satisfies--however the kids say the French fries are really good. We would love to have a kid friendly place ( which this is) nearby but it has to have good food and unfortunately this isn't it.

If your looking for a great place to take your family it's this place the food is so fresh, home made fries not frozen!! Home made Mac and cheese not out of a box the sandwiches are huge and delicious !! I had the blue mug salad it was the best!! The prices are great the staff is friendly and the place is spotless!! I can't say enough good things about my experience there my family and I will definitely go back!!!

Excellent place, nice decor, great atmosphere and the food is fantastic. Will come back often. A most needed place for this side of the Woodlands.

Had breakfast with family couple of times (November-December 2013). Good quality food and plenty of coffee in these mugs!

Meh. Low budget Black Walnut.

I've been here twice and really like the atmosphere. The bar area is especially nice. They still have a few kinks in their service that they have got to get worked out ASAP. We were there for lunch on Sunday and our food took 40 minutes (I checked the time on my receipt). The manager came was very apologetic and was very generous with some coupon cards because of our wait. We didn't notice the wait quite so much because we were sitting near one of the big screen TVs. The food is good although the menu does seem limited. I like the atmosphere and the decor. They have a private dining room that will accommodate groups of 14. There is also a nice seating section outside. When the service was faster, and I'm optimistic they will get their system down soon, I'll give them 4 stars. If the service was faster, a few more items on the menu, and the prices a tad lower, then they would ring the bell with 5 stars.

Definitely room for improvement, but that's to be expected with many new establishments. Breakfast was subpar... dry eggs, cold potatoes, and a suspicious looking chicken breast more reminiscent of a pork chop. The breakfast sausage was pretty tasty and the coffee was rich and flavorful. Other than that, nothing too impressive... especially the strange rustic/clubby/cafeteria styled decor.
(2)Travis A.
I'm just not a fan of not having a server and having to go pick up my food. This is pretty common in this area unfortunately. With that being said the food is probably a 4 star for breakfast. The French Toast was pretty tasty and the they had a decent selection. It was not crowded and was kid friendly on a Sunday morning.
(3)Brian E.
A few kinks as expected for a new establishment but staff goes above and beyond to make it right. Food was excellent. I had salmon which was 10 ounces of awesome. Two thumbs up from the kids on the Mac and Cheese as well (sans the bacon). Getting your own food is really no big deal. Net result = great food at reasonable prices in the back of The Woodlands where it is sorely needed. Oh, an added bonus, TVs everywhere so we could watch the final round of the Masters during dinner. This restaurant likely commands a 5 star rating once they smooth out their service process but is pretty close to that already.

Been here three times because it is nearby and most places have long waits by 6:30 on a Friday. Food review is mixed. Santa Fe bowl is decent but chipotle burrito bowl is better. Ribs were ok. I forget what nusband had the third time but he didn't care for it. Ordering system is confusing because menu needs to be better posted, outside maybe? Atmosphere should be nice as it is very loungy but every time we have come children have been running all over the place. I do not mind eating near kids or babies but i mean literally RUNNING through the place on a Friday night like Chuck E Cheese as someone else said. Also, some trio was playing music one Friday and God Bless em, they were "of age", lacking vocal quality (thankfully their acoustics were bad) and just painful to hear. I thought I walked into a nursing home. We had planned to stay longer but kids and the "band" made us check out early. Great location, food and drinks are ok but some other things need to be tweaked.

I went here for dinner about a week ago and was very surprised by everything. The atmosphere is very nice with music in the background but not too loud so you cans till enjoy conversation with friends and family. There are no servers so you must order your food at the counter and it will be brought to you at your table. I ordered the O My Fish which was delicious i loved every bit of it i actually ordered another to take home to family. Food is a little pricey but its so worth it. I also had a mojito and a amaretto sour from the bar which Stephen made and they were both very good. Overall i am very satisfied and will be back with friends soon.

I really want to like this place - (1) I enjoy eating at the Black Walnut and have each time I have visited, (2) the restaurant is relatively close to my home, (3) there is ample parking and seating, both indoors and out/nice ambiance. Despite how much I want to like it, the food (dinner is the only time I have visited on three different occasions) is not great and the service leaves a lot to be desired. In terms of the food, I ordered the miso salmon and the salmon was so overcooked that I couldn't stand to finish it. My dinner companions ordered (1) the pot roast grill cheese and felt that while the cheese and sour dough were yum, the pot roast had no flavor (2) the wrap sandwich (good) with a side salad/olive oil dressing. The cashier said olive oil was not a dressing option. I am willing to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt as it is new with new staff/cashiers etc, but this seemed a strange response. On another occasions I had to point out the drink I wanted since the cashier didn't know a blueberry mojito was one of the "specialty drinks". Additionally regarding service, the typical wait time for food is at least 25 minutes for an order of 2 or 3 entrees from the time you place your order. Given we are in the family friendly Woodlands, this is too long, especially if the kids are hungry. Overall I feel like the restaurant is a disappointment and I hope that management can turn it around soon!
